A soft walk through energy, instinct, and the animals who choose us.

🌙 A Life Lived in Quiet Connection

Animals have found me for as long as I can remember. Birds lingering on my fingers, stray kittens choosing my lap, unfamiliar dogs softening the moment they entered my energy field. I never questioned it. I simply accepted that animals felt safe around me.

Only now do I understand the truth threaded through my entire life:

Animals choose me.

And in their choosing, they reveal who I am.

I’ve even had two cats begin labour on me...mucous plug and all. Because they wanted my presence with them. That kind of trust isn’t trained.

It’s instinctual.

It’s ancient.

Long before I learned the word Reiki, my body was already offering it.

🌙✨ Reiki for Animals: The Gentle Art of Safety

Animal Reiki isn’t about correcting behaviour or forcing stillness. It’s the quiet creation of an energetic field where a creature’s nervous system remembers how to soften.

When a session begins, animals instinctively:

  • release held tension

  • regulate their breathing

  • reorient to comfort

  • let go of subtle fear

  • return to themselves

They decide the distance. They choose the spots. They set the pace.

I simply follow the unspoken cues.

🌑🐾 What Our Animals Absorb

One truth I see again and again:

Animals read our nervous systems before our words.

They absorb the emotional atmosphere we don’t always notice.

My Dallas senses my internal shifts instantly. The subtle drop in energy, the unsettled breath, the mind that’s suddenly too loud. His body responds before my awareness does.

This is why Animal Reiki naturally includes guardians.

A regulated human creates a regulated animal.

How many of you have recieved energy work and your animal doesnt leave your side?

The healing moves both ways.

🌙🐾 Cats as Mystical Energy Keepers

Some say cats guard thresholds, and I believe them. They’re the quiet watchers who see the shimmer before the shape, the energy before the body. Dolores Cannon described it perfectly: cats read the frequency first, and the human second.

Maybe that’s why their history is soaked in symbolism.

From temple guardians to moon-touched companions, cats have always been half in this world and half in another. Ancient Egypt wrapped them in gold, etched them into walls, and buried them with reverence because they recognized what cats actually are: energetic protectors, keepers of the in-between.

When a cat steps into my field during a session, it feels like they’re remembering something old… something they’ve done across lifetimes. Their paws know the pathways. Their whiskers read the currents. Their presence carries a wisdom that feels older than language.

Reiki simply gives them a place to show it.

🌙🐎 The Day the Horses Walked Toward Me

I once stumbled onto a trail I didn’t know was a horse path. There were no warnings. No signs. Just a quiet clearing… and then the sound of hooves.

Four horses lifted their heads and began walking directly toward me.

My ego reacted first:

What if they hurt you?

What if they spook?

What if you don’t belong here?

But something deeper inside me whispered:Breathe. Feel your feet. Stay.

So I stood there, heart pounding and wide open, letting their enormous energy roll toward me like a slow-moving tide. It didn’t feel threatening. It felt ancient. As if they recognized something in me before I recognized it in myself.

I wasn’t prepared for the magnitude of their presence, for how loudly their energy hums, for how small humans feel beside creatures who carry both softness and power in equal measure.

Yet they came close.

Closer than my logical mind thought was possible. Close enough that I felt their field before their breath.

I stayed present.

I stayed grounded.

I stayed in awe.

Eventually I whispered, “Excuse me,” and stepped aside to continue my hike… but I think about that moment often. About how four horses chose to walk toward me, not away, and how my body learned something my mind wasn’t ready to understand:

Horses don’t test your courage.

They test your presence.

And that day, I showed up

In this experience, I couldn’t hep but think about the Intuitive's and Reiki Masters that have told me the same thing:

that horses hold the highest Chi of any land animal, and that one day I would learn directly from them.

And yet, despite all my experiences with cats, dogs, birds, livestock and wildlife, horses still make me uneasy.

Not frightened. Just humbled.

Their energy is enormous.

Their presence is ancient.

Their hearts radiate further than any creature I’ve ever been near.

I’ve been told that when I’m ready, the right horse will meet me halfway. Until then, I hold a quiet wish:

If someone in my community (around London Ontario, Canada) has a gentle horse and is open to sharing their time and presence, I would love to learn, observe, and offer Reiki in return.

Maybe that’s how the next chapter of my Animal Reiki journey will bloom.

🐾✨ Animals I’ve Known (and Who Have Known Me)

My life has been shaped by creatures who trusted me long before I understood why:

  • mystical Egyptian Maus whose presence felt older than language

  • stray kittens who chose my lap before choosing humans

  • birds who rested on my finger with tiny hearts syncing to mine

  • dogs across countries and continents who ran directly into my energy

  • deer who held eye contact instead of fleeing

  • livestock whose emotional worlds once overwhelmed me

  • companions who leaned into my palms like medicine

These aren’t coincidences.

They are callings.

🌸 Why I Offer Animal Reiki Now

Because the animals taught me first.

Because my sensitivity is not a flaw. It is a bridge.

Because their bodies understand what my hands offer.

Because healing belongs to all living beings.

Because this path isn’t something I learned. It’s something I remembered.

🌙🌱 Bloom & Grow: A Moment With Your Companion

Sit with your animal today.

Place your hand gently near their shoulder, chest, or wherever they choose.

Notice the shift:

  • the soften of their spine

  • the slow blink

  • the sigh

  • the leaning weight

This is how animals say:“I trust you. I’m with you.”

Healing begins in stillness.

🌿✨ Thank you for walking this path with me.

If your companion carries stress, emotion, or heaviness, I would be honoured to hold space for them, and for you.
